December 2022 Freeze Event Assistance
December 26, 2022
Dear Members of King Creek Water Supply Corporation,
As a Corporation, KCWSC is committed to providing reliable and safe water services to our community. We also understand that natural disasters can sometimes disrupt these services and disrupt our daily lives. The hard freeze we just experienced December 22-26th is the latest example of such a disruption. While it may not be evident, the water system was in danger of shut-down due to the many water leaks. KCWSC having experienced similar conditions in February of 2021 and 2022 was prepared and worked quickly to gain control of the leaks thus keeping the system in operation and limiting the impact to our members.
While the impact of the leaks of this event were limited, it is still real for those involved. This is why we have two specific policies in place to offer assistance to our members in the event of a natural disaster. CP06 addresses deferred payments and CP07 addresses account adjustment. Both of these policies have minimum requirements to be applicable. The policies are available on the KCWSC website (https://www.kcwsc.com/corporate-policies).
We understand that natural disasters can be stressful and overwhelming, and we are here to support our members through these difficult times. We all have heard the saying “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” which holds true even for preparing for sever weather. Members are asked to be proactive in preparation for forewarned events such as freezing weather with particular attention to properties that are unoccupied during such an event. Please watch for Alerts by text and email from KCWSC with information to help prevent disruptions in service.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions about our policies, if you may be eligible for disaster relief defined in the policies, or how we can assist you in the event of a natural disaster.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
King Creek Water Supply Corporation
