We use a chloramine as a disinfectant (this is NOT household bleach like sold at WalMart).  Only chemicals that are approved by the National Safety Foundation for treatment of drinking water and are procured through a commercial chemical company are used for your safety.

All public water systems are required to maintain a minimum chlorine level of 0.2 mg/L (tested at the end of each line) by state law. Systems that use chloramine as a disinfectant must maintain a level of 0.5 mg/L (tested at the storage tank) by state law. Our disinfectant levels are monitored and tested routinely to ensure safety.

The Board of Directors serve a very important role!  Elected by the membership, the Board of Directors are responsible to oversee that the water service and corporate business are judiciously operated in accordance to the Rules and Regulations set forth by the State of Texas.

The Board of Directors is comprised of seven members elected by the membership.  These seven members are divided into two groups of two and one group of three.  Each group serves a three year term.  The groups rotate such that one group is up for election each year at the Annual Membership Meeting.  The Board elects its officers which are President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer.

No.  The Board of Directors are members serving the Membership of KCWSC.  They are not compensated for their time, but legitimate business expenses necessary for the operation of the corporation are reimbursed as approved by the Board.
